Student Research
This photograph by Michael Wolosynowicz speaks to me more than others because of the etherial quality of such a natural occurrence, it almost has a magical feel to it. Compositionally there are so many things going on, I didn't notice all of them at first glance. What first caught my eye was obviously the beams of light shining through and creating the converging lines throughout the picture that also complement the lines and shapes that are created by the trees. I also really like how the perspective of how this photograph was taken especially the way that the road is completely centered but somehow the trees still give a "rule of thirds" feel to the image so that it is has a seemingly symmetrical feel without being exactly identical on either side of the frame. For me, however, the beams of light are not what make this photograph extraordinary to me. This image speaks to me personally because this is an occurrence I would very much like to experience and at least once in my life. To be on an old dirt road deep down in the south with an arch of hundred year old trees surrounding me and the light from the sun just shining down and warming my skin sounds idyllic, and to actually get a shot of it as good as this would be heaven.
